From the Sile river to the Livenza

From the Sile river to the Livenza

Starting from the Greenway of the girasile (cycle route E4), the route crosses the eastern part of the province of Treviso and reaches the fluvial corridor of livenza, intercepting the most significant natural and historical architectural sites present in the land between the two rivers. Taking advantage of and intersecting with the already existing routes, including the Strada dei Vini del Piave (the wine’s route of Piave!), the first track stretches into the “lower Piave” dear to Hemingway, touching the Castle of Roncade, the Pero of Monaster and the Shrine of Fagarè and goes on to a vast area with a wine-growing vocation, ideal for the tasting of excellent wines. At the level of the city of Motta di Livenza you reach the river port of the“Livenzetta”, a strategic point for river navigation towards Caorle and the Adriatic coast. Going north along the Livenza river, a real linear natural oasis, you meet the wide naturalistic zone of the Prà dei Gai, and then you reach the river city of Portobuffolè, with its museums and quaint architectures in the historical center. From here you get to the park Ansa Restera Zandegiacomi in the city of Campomolino di Gaiarine, and to the Museo Comunale “maglio dei tonet” in Francenigo, overlooking the course of the livenza, where is a path that lends itself to both walking and cycling and river hiking, using the numerous landing places for canoes and boats.
